About the firm

Advice rooted in family estates, not sales targets

Ashdown Estate & Wealth grew from years of sitting with Scottish families who needed someone to translate pensions, property and inheritance rules into plain decisions. We still work that way.

Bright meeting room prepared for a client consultation

Origin

The practice began after repeated conversations in Altenwerthfield where clients arrived with excellent solicitors and accountants — yet no one had joined the financial picture together. Ashdown was formed to hold that middle ground: regulated financial advice that respects legal and tax specialists without duplicating their work.

We remain deliberately small. That keeps meetings unhurried and recommendations specific to the household in the room.

How we work

  • Discovery first — we will not quote a full fee until we understand the documents involved.
  • Written outputs you can share with your solicitor or accountant.
  • Clear boundaries: we advise; we do not draft wills or file tax returns.
  • Follow-up within the agreed window, then a clean close unless you retain us for a further piece of work.

Values that show up in the work

We prefer plain English over jargon. We name uncertainty when a valuation is incomplete rather than inventing precision. We decline work that would push you into a product we do not believe fits. And we treat adult children as participants when you invite them — never as an audience for a sales pitch.

If that approach suits how you make decisions, book an introductory meeting or write to us from the contact page.
